Presenting Fieldhaven, the Bay Area's Most Exceptional Estate

This dramatic estate slowly reveals itself as you enter the property and encompasses the owner's love of the outdoors while striving to create a sense that this family compound has been around for generations. Boasting architectural sophistication and elegant craftsmanship, while exuding unparalleled warmth, Fieldhaven is a true labor of love.

Completed just three years ago, no expense was spared during the seven year process from inception to completion. Remick Associates Architects + Master Builders worked intimately with the owners to create this exceptional English Manor-style estate and bring the design team's thoughtful vision to life. During the three year building period, 200+ master caliber workers were on site daily with the design team ensuring perfection in every detail. This labor of love created Fieldhaven, a harmonious blend of old world charm and modern lifestyle with the estate's incomparable natural surroundings.

Estate Components...

The completed structures include a 20,467 square-foot main home comprised of 20+ rooms, eight bedrooms, nine full bathrooms and seven half baths; a car barn built to house 12 vehicles; a 1,404 square-foot one bedroom and one bath carriage house loft (above the car barn); a detached 1,115 square-foot two bedroom, two bath guest house; and a 75'suspension bridge and tree house designed and installed by Barbara Butler of San Francisco. Magnificent Grounds...

The magnificent and fully-fenced 21.48-acre grounds incorporate mature oaks, large-scale boulders mined from the Sierra foothills and four styles of innovative stone walls (from five different quarries in the United States) adding "story book charm" to the landscape. Extensive cobblestone pavers and stone ledger driveways and parking areas make travel through the grounds seamless. Resort-like amenities provide an incredible pallet for entertaining and relaxation and include an oversized recreational pool and spa, a separate spa off of the master retreat, a plunge pool with waterslide, barbecue pavilion for dining and entertaining, grotto dining area, upper kitchen/cutting garden with wishing well, retreat-like lower vegetable garden with potting shed and fountain, family dog park, two paw-washing stations, four outdoor bathrooms, dual outdoor showers and multiple fountains.

Front Entrance...

The home's front entrance adds the perfect balance of storybook charm and sophistication. The unique flared stone cladding, hand-selected layered limestone entry, custom door that is an astounding five inches thick, and old-world ironwork forged by an Austrian craftsman sets the tone for this welcoming estate. The main foyer consists of velvet-soft, rare Tidewater (Swamp) Cypress wood that looks like it has been touched for hundreds of years. The double-height ceilings, ancient stone floors, and lighting also set the stage for this dramatic and grand entrance.

Grand Living Room...

The grand living room showcases Bronze clad Italian windows and doors by Hope's Windows, Inc., magnificent chandelier lighting (all on a lift system), antique French limestone fireplace (C. 1700-1800), reclaimed French oak floors, hand-painted valences by Evans & Brown, custom silk draperies and old-world plaster walls. In addition, the fireplace screen was also forged by the same Austrian ironworker who completed the main front door to the home.

Juliet Balcony...

Unsurpassed quality is showcased in the "Juliet" balcony constructed of the same rare Swamp Cypress wood used throughout the property.

Great Room & Bar...

The home's story unfolds in the barn-like great room and bar through rich and varying masonry and wall finishes. The beams, posts and timber are antique reclaimed wood from old barns in New England. If you look closely, the barn structure has actually been created on the inside of the room. The Gregorius/Pineo light fixture and French antique fireplace surround (C. 1700-1800) anchor this fabulous room.

Main Kitchen...

The main kitchen's custom cabinetry is by Merritt Woodwork of Ohio and was created for the utmost ease and incredible organization. The finishes and appliances (listed below) are meant for the discerning chef. The hand-painted kitchen hood was done by artists from Utah and features a pastoral scene with animals, hay wagon and barn. The slab countertops and backsplashes are done in honed Italian Calacatta marble and the islands are a yellow bamboo marble and Rojo Alicante marble. The pendant lighting is also done by the Austrian blacksmith. The appliances consist of the following items:

  • (2) 36" La Cornue ranges side by side creating six feet of cooking heaven
  • (1) Wolf Electric 6-burner cooktop on island
  • (2) 36" Full height Subzero refrigerators
  • (2) 24" Miele dishwashers
  • (1) 30" Miele microwave drawer

The wood floors are European reclaimed oak in an eye-catching Herringbone pattern.

The home's wine cellar was created after a historical well house often found in original farm houses. The antique European fireback from Jan de Luz dates back to 1620 and is embedded into the stone surround along with an antique cask spigot. The cellar door was also created by the Austrian blacksmith as were the removable candle holders.

Kids' Hall...

The second floor has a children's wing with five bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom and a sixth bedroom and bath that is slightly removed from the others. There is a luxury featured laundry room and an exercise room with half bath. This area is most easily reached by the informal rear staircase. Beyond the gallery, and accessed via the main staircase, is an additional guest bedroom and bath. All the bedrooms are well-proportioned with custom built-ins, state of the art electronics and high quality custom bathrooms. Beyond the guest room is an expansive area of finished attic space. This provides a storage, wrapping area and play area that has wall to wall carpet and is full standing height but with limited windows. The attic is not considered as part of the living area of the main house.

The dramatic mural encompasses the cinema and was painted by world-renowned artists Evans & Brown of San Francisco and features some of the family's favorite movies. Next to this area is a large recreational room often referred to as the "teen lounge". This room has a dedicated pool table area, wet bar with sink and beverage fridge, as well as multiple seating areas.
